Historical Baradari

Nawab Wajid Ali Shah Zoological Garden This white Baradari situated in the Lucknow campus is known as "Nagardi Baradari". This Baradari, built of marble stone, got its name due to the addition of precious color-bleaching gemstones to the marble stones here. This Baradari was built around 1828 by Nasiruddin Hyder, the second Nawab of Awadh.

Originally, this Baradari was built adjacent to the Begum Hazrat Mahal Park at Kaiser Bagh, but due to the damage to the freedom struggle of 1857, the British authorities shifted it to Banarasi Bagh, which is the zoological garden today. Here, this Baradari has been made by adding the original form. Presently, it is our and your responsibility to protect this cultural heritage.
